Worries about you

I worry about you

Usually, with previous relationships
The worries would be about us
About whether you’d still like me
Still want to be with me
How you’d feel about things I said or did

Not with you
You’ve given me a security
I never thought I could find

The worries aren’t about us
They’re about you
Whether you’re doing okay
How you are feeling
Not about me
But in general

Worrying sucks
To put it plainly
But I see a silver lining to it, too

This worrying means that you’re important to me
That I’d hate to see anything bad happen to you
And that I’m worried because I care for you
So much

I don’t seem to have much control over these worries
These feelings
No matter how often we talk about it
The worries come back anyway

But there’s something beautiful in that
Because it means it’s not just me, my conscious me
Who loves you

My subconscious
Who keeps thinking of these worries
Automatically, uncontrollably
Loves you too

And realizing that
Helps me to be

A little less worried.
