I miss you

It’s 5 AM and I wake
For a few seconds, things are normal
But then, my thoughts go out to you

I miss you

I miss your smile
I miss your laugh

Your voice
Your touch
Your presence

You leave a hole in my life
And like my tongue searching for that painful tooth
Or a sore muscle that I keep stretching
My mind keeps going back to missing you

It expresses itself as a sort of anxiety
An uneasy, nervous-like feeling that sits in my chest
And with it, I picture things that I know are not true
But knowing and feeling, are two very different things

I try to focus on what I know
Try to reassure myself that nothing is wrong
But this jealousy, I think that’s what it is
Keeps trying to tell me lies about you

It all feels very dramatic, almost childish
I saw you last, only a couple of days ago
And seriously, when have you ever given me reason to doubt you?
It’s just insecurities, projected onto you

I’m sure I’ll be fine, it just takes a while
In a couple of days, you’ll be back
And all of this will disappear instantly

I just miss you
And I can’t wait to see you, again
